Getting up early on a Saturday morning is much easier to do when you have something like ZNationals to look forward to. Arriving at Coolray Field at 8 AM, the lot was already buzzing. After Mike from Z1 directed us to the club area, we broke out canopies and chairs and people from clubs throughout the Southeast were helping each other set up.
Z1 Motorsports took a chance moving their signature show from their facilities in Carrollton to a venue 80 miles away. They pulled it off, too. It was great having plenty of room around the cars in the show for judges and spectators to move around and see better.
There were plenty of GZC members showing cars with many of them being S130s. Steve and Robert volunteered to be judges, though Steve seemed disappointed that he was not given a black robe and a gavel.
Meanwhile the parking lot was filling up with lots of Zs and Gs – well over 300. We managed to photograph most of them. The Z1 staff and volunteers were busy getting people fed, passing out swag and raffling off prizes. People were gathering with their friends and fellow club members, drooling over all the variations of Z cars (and Gs), and enjoying a very breezy, but overcast day.
By 4 o’clock, the crowd started filtering out. Many went to the banquet, while others started their trips home. We passed on the banquet to get the photos posted.
So, without further adieu, here are some of the cars. Click on the last photo to get to the full set.
